T.I.C. launches major update to statistics service
6 June 2018
The T.I.C. today has launched a significantly updated and expanded statistics service.
The Association is mandated to collect and analyze tantalum and niobium statistics and has collected trade data since its inception in 1974. However, the format has not been updated for many years and recently has been found wanting. The proposed new augmented format has been circulated to all T.I.C. member companies for their feedback is welcome. The report is not available to non-members*, although a summary will be provided to all attendees at our 2018 conference (open to non-members).
Under the new system members’ data will be supplemented by international import-export trade data to create a clearer understanding of the market. Members’ confidential data will continue to be collected from T.I.C. members by Miller Roskell Ltd, a chartered accountancy that is 100% independent of the T.I.C.
When introducing the new report Mr Alexey Tsorayev, Chair of the Statistics Subteam, said “The Executive Committee Statistics Subteam has done a great deal of work to develop a reporting mechanism based on the wish to provide you with objective information taking into account the confidentiality of data. I would like to note the hard work of Mr David Knudson, T.I.C. Technical Officer, in preparing and drawing the report.” This project has been in development since early 2016 and was discussed by members at the T.I.C.’s 2017 annual general meeting.
